Wax Removal

At N. Franklin Audiology, we employ a meticulous wax removal technique known as Microsuction, performed by our expert Audiologists. Recognising the importance of your hearing, we handle your ears with the highest level of care and expertise. During the procedure, a small suction tube and probe are carefully inserted into your ear canal. The Microsuction equipment gently extracts excess wax, much like a vacuum, ensuring your ears’ safety, particularly in sensitive cases such as a perforated eardrum. Rely on us for gentle and effective ear care.

Consultation Process

During your consultation, our Audiologist will ask you about your ear health to ensure the procedure is safe for you. 

If you wish, we can show you a live photo or video of your ear canals. Before starting the procedure, we need to determine if the wax is soft enough to remove, as hard wax may cause damage. We always recommend using olive oil drops daily for a week before your appointment to soften the wax.

Procedure Details

The Microsuction procedure typically takes around 20–40 minutes, depending on the amount of wax and whether one or both ears require treatment.

We never rush the procedure, so if you need a break at any point, just let us know. Once the procedure is completed, we will show you what your ear canals look like.

After the procedure, our Audiologist will discuss post-treatment care with you and answer any questions you may have.
